DSS Camp Two Day Conference On Stabilizing Fata: Security, Governance, Developmental Challenges, Internal & External Dimensions



    The Community Appraisal and Motivation Programme (CAMP) organized a two day conference in collaboration with the DSS department, QAU, on the topic Stabilizing FATA: Security, Governance, Developmental Challenges, Internal & External Dimensions, at the Marriott Hotel, Islamabad on March 21-22, 2011. The conference was the last in series of deliberations jointly held by both the organizations. The first two being one day long each round table discussions on different aspects of FATA. The conference was inaugurated by the honorable vice chancellor of the Quaid e Azam University, Dr. Masoom Yasinzai and was graced by the Governor of Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa province, the honorable barrister Syed Masood Kausar. The two day event was widely attended by students, media, academics, policy analysts, foreign delegates and stakeholders in FATA.

    The conference brought together a rich combination of analysts, policy makers, media personalities, concerned citizens, SCOs, stakeholders, as well as the youth's perspective from FATA. The panels covered the themes, FATA: Security Challenges Internal Dimensions, Stabilizing FATA: External Factors, Mainstreaming FATA: Governance Issues, FATA: Stakeholder's Roundtable and lastly, FATA: Media's Role & Perceptions which brought together a select line of speakers and chairs such as Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi, Amb Ashraf Jahangir Qazi, Ambassador Qazi Humayun, Syed Talat Hussain, Amb. Arif Ayub, Mr. Saleem Safi, Amb Rustam Shah Muhmand, Mr. Imtiaz Gul, Ms. Shabana Fayyaz, Dr. Samina Ahmed, Ms. Antje Grave, Ms. Naseem Zehra, Prof. Zubair Mehsud, Ms. Fareeda Afridi, Ms. Nabila Jaffar as well as Amb Ayaz Wazir.
