Taha Amir, DSS student wins Essay Competition on “Non-Traditional Security Threats in Indian Ocean Region” held by Pakistan Navy War College, Lahore

Mr. Taha Amir, a student of the Department of Defence and Strategic Studies won essay competition organised by Pakistan Navy War College, Lahore. He wrote and presented his insightful essay on “India’s Rising Influence in Gulf Arab States: Implications for Pakistan.” An inter-university essay competition along a seminar/webinar was held to commemorate the World Maritime Day 2024 that focused on “Non Traditional Maritime Security Threats in Indian Ocean Region (IOR)” on September 26, 2024 at Pakistan Navy War College, Lahore. The competition was held between multiple institutions including Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad; Kinnaird College for Women, Lahore; and, the University of Lahore, Lahore. This achievement underscores the growing academic engagement with maritime security issues among Pakistani universities and highlights the significance of scholarly discourse on non-traditional security challenges in the maritime domain. Mr Amir’s analysis of India’s expanding influence in the Gulf region and its strategic implications for Pakistan demonstrates not only his academic excellence but also the importance of understanding evolving regional dynamics in maritime security studies. The Department of DSS congratulates him on his success.
