MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

between

DEPARTMENT OF DEFENCE & STRATEGIC STUDIES

QUAID-I-AZAM UNIVERSITY

ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN

&

NATIONAL COUNTER TERRORISM AUTHORITY
ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN

By signing this MOU, the two institutions indicate their willingness to collaborate and establish mechanisms to work together in the following fields: –

1. Joint Research Collaboration: The parties will jointly collaborate and consolidate research work in areas of extremism and terrorism in Pakistan.
2. Directory of Research Experts: The parties will share with each other the directory of research experts in areas of extremism, de-radicalization, counter terrorism, conflict and peace studies and other areas of relevance and both parties will continue updating the directory. This directory may be used when any particular assistance is required from a researcher on a specific topic.
3. Awareness Activities: Both the Parties with mutual cooperation will undertake workshops, seminars, discussions etc. to create awareness among teaching fraternity, on need of research on issues of violent extremism and terrorism.
4. Center of Excellence on P/CVE: Both parties will create a center of excellence for P/CVE.
5. Joint Working Group: Both the parties will establish a Joint Working group comprising of their respective representatives for the amendments and implementation of various aspects of the MOU, and

Both the Parties may undertake any other activities for the implementation of various aspects of this MOU and to modify or expand the areas of cooperation to prevent extremism and terrorism under this MOU, with mutual consent.
