A team of students comprising of MSc 3rd & 4th semester students visited the Institute of Strategic Studies, Islamabad on March 19th, 2010. The visit took place under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Ms. Shabana Fayyaz and Ms. Salma Malik.
At the Institute, the team was welcomed by the Chairman/ Director General ISSI, Mr. Tanveer A Khan, along with Directors, Ms. Simbal Khan and Mr. Najam Rafique. Dr. Tanveer Khan moderated the session, where as Ms. Simbal Khan was the main speaker who gave a detailed expose on Afghanistan & Impact of MacChrystal Plan on the future of Afghanistan based NATO troops, the with drawl of forces by the US; President Obama’s WestPoint speech and over all US military strategy in Afghanistan. How it will influence and impact the future course of reconciliation and reconstruction of Afghan society. The discussion was followed by a Q&A session and tea, where the students intermingled with the team of ISSI researchers and exchanged views.
