A Communication Skill that Contribute to Counter Violent Extremism (CVE) in University Students” was held on April 30, 2018 in the department of Defence & Strategic Studies, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad in collaboration with SEHAR (Society for Empowerment, Harmony, Awareness and Research).
Lead by Mr. Arshad Warsi, President and Ms. Shafaq Sarfraz, Director Peace Wing SEHAR, the central theme of the workshop was to develop skills to live together peacefully and amicably, in order to replace hate and violent communication with compassion and non-violent communication and pave way for a prosperous, peaceful and inclusive society in Pakistan.
Held in the backdrop of HEC’s initiative after the incident at the Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, in order to counter the feelings of hate, intolerance, violence and extremism that are making our society exclusive, and the effect of these feelings and attitude are not only strong in our youth but our university students are also affected. Dr. Nasrullah Mirza, Chairman, Department of Defence and Strategic Studies, appreciated the event organizers and reemphasized that, there is a need to encourage initiatives such as the one undertaken by SEHAR that help transform people positively and promotes compassion at all levels and help us achieve better ends in our educational goals.
