Seminar on “Importance of Interfaith Harmony in Pakistani Society” Brig. (R) Mujahid Alam

A Seminar was held at the DSS Conference Hall, QAU, on the topic “Importance of Interfaith Harmony in Pakistani Society” on October 9, 2025. The event featured Brig. (R) Mujahid Alam as the guest speaker, and was moderated by Dr. Salma Malik, Assocoate Professor and Director Students Affairs of the DSS Department. It was attended by Ambassador Nadeem Riaz and a number of students of the DSS Department.

Brig. Alam highlighted that the Pathfinder Interfaith Harmony Project in Pakistan was established with an aim to transform society by fostering peaceful coexistence among people of all faiths. Quoting Quaid-e-Azam’s August 11, 1947 speech, he emphasized that every citizen in Pakistan has the freedom to practice their religion, and that diversity should be seen as a source of strength rather than division. He stressed that interfaith harmony is essential for national security, social cohesion, countering terrorism, addressing secular conflicts, promoting tourism and economic growth, and preserving cultural heritage. To achieve these goals, he recommended educational reforms, grassroots initiatives, self-reflection, and mutual respect for differing viewpoints, aiming to build a stronger and united Pakistan. The seminar was cocluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Salma Malik.
