Talk on “Pakistan’s War on Terror: An Appraisal” by Brig. (R) Saif Malik

Brig. (R) Saif Malik from Army Institute of Military History (AIMH), Rawalpindi gave a talk on “Pakistan’s War on Terror: An Appraisal” to the students and faculty of the Department of Defence and Strategic Studies on June 3rd, 2024. He briefed the audience about how the issue of terrorism was securitized as a threat for the security of Pakistan. He traced the reasons and causes of terrorism in Pakistan. He outlined Pakistan’s efforts to root out terrorism in a chronological manner. He analysed series of military operations Pakistan army carried out across the country. He analysed different kinetic and non-kinetic measures Pakistan has taken to address the challenge of terrorism. He also appraised students about the current challenges Pakistan faces in renewed terrorist activities across the country. The Chair of the department, Dr Shaban Fayyaz offered a vote of thanks to the esteemed presenter for enlightening the students on a very pertinent issue of staretgic affairs of Pakistan.
