On Saturday February 20th, 2010, an interactive televised panel discussion was held on the India Pakistan Peace Process, between the DSS department and the private television network, the NEWS-1, at the department. The panel of experts comprised of Dr. Tanveer A Khan Chairman/ Director General Institute of Strategic Studies, Islamabad, Dr. Shaheen Akhtar, Senior Research Fellow, Institute of Regional Studies, and Air Commodore Retd Khalid Iqbal, a Defence & Security Analyst.
The panel discussed the necessity of reinitiating the peace process and the importance of dialogue between the two countries. It examined the various contentious issues that are an obstacle to the resumption and result oriented parleys between the two neighbours. It looked into various means of making the peace process viable and not remain a mere dialogue forum. The discussion which was televised on the TV-One channel had an audience consisting of students and faculty of the department. The panel discussion was followed by Q& A session, and was moderated by Dr. Syed Rifaat Hussain.
