Visit To Kabul, Afghanistan By DSS Faculty

A delegation comprising of VC QAU Prof Dr. Muhammad Masoom Yasinzai, Chair DSS Department, Prof Dr. Syed Rifaat Hussain, Asst. Profs. Ms. Shabana Fayyaz & Ms. Salma Malik along with Associate Prof. (& PRO-QAU) Dr. Nazir Hussain, Prof Emeritus Dr. Mohammad Qasim Jan (ex – VC QAU), were invited to Kabul by the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung. Given his pressing engagements, Dr. Yasinzai could not join the group, owing to a pressing official engagement.

The visit took place from Feb 22nd-25th, 2010. The delegation paid a detail visit to the University of Kabul, where they were hosted by the Chancellor of the University, Dr. Hamidullah Amin and distinguished faculty. During their visit to the University, they were taken to the University Library, Faculty of Agriculture, the Govt. of Pakistan’s gift to the Kabul University, Allama Iqbal Faculty of Arts, and the National Center for Policy Research, besides a round table session with the students of Kabul University. The delegation also visited the main government broadcasting agency, the Radio & Television Afghanistan (RTA), held a meeting with the National Security Advisor of Afghanistan, Dr. Rangeen Dafadar Spanta, & were invited by the Pakistan’s envoy to Afghanistan Mr. Mohammad Sadiq. They were also hosted to a dinner by Dr. Abdul Rahman Ashraf Presidential Advisor in the Rank of a Federal Minister to the President of Afghanistan, to which prominent academics, researchers, policy makers and media personalities were invited and views were exchanged.
